Ozone Destruct Operation: Technical Q & A

Q: Do ozone destruct units need heaters?

A: If the gas comes from a wet source, such as a degas tower or PSK, then yes, a heater is needed. If the gas comes directly from an ozone generator being diverted to the destruct unit, then no. The heater prevents moist gas from reaching the destruct media. While the heater does destroy some ozone, this is not its primary purpose.

Q: What happens if my destruct heater is not working?

A: If the heater is not functioning, the destruct media will become ineffective, binding together and stopping gas flow. Repair involves fixing the heater and replacing the destruct media.
